J & G Classic Car Restoration Services have been trading at the current location on the A494 at Rhydymain near Dolgellau Gwynedd since September 1994, after moving from smaller premises in Fairbourne, N. Wales.

The business was originally started in 1971 in Darlaston W. Midlands by J. Haycock. The business is still run by F. J. Haycock, one of the original partners.

J & G Classic Cars is company made up of enthusiasts, each of us own and run at least one classic car, including 2 Pre-War Triumphs, a1937 Morris 8, a Mercedes Coupe, a Reliant Scimitar, a Volvo P1800s, a V. W. Beetle, and a Lotus Elan plus 2 130.

J & G Classic Cars not specialise in one particular make or model, although over the years we have probably restored more Triumphs than most of the other makes added together, both pre and post war. In our case history section there are details of some of the cars which we have restored over the years.

There is on site a fully equipped machine shop where cylinder head and block alterations and repairs are carried out as well as king pin and bush manufacture.

As well as the usual restoration disciplines, body repair, chassis repair and mechanical overhaul, J & G Classic Cars are also able to carry out all aspects of interior trim and upholstery and also repair and manufacture as required ash frames for the coachbuilt cars.

J & G Classic Car Restoration Services are able to carry out all aspects of restoration in house, including interior trim and mechanical overhauls. They have at their disposal a fully equipped machine shop for the machining and manufacture of such things as king pins, bushes, shackle pins etc.

In the trim shop they are able to make carpet kits either to a pattern or tailored to fit, make trim panels, headlinings, and recover seats etc in a variety of materials, to original or owners specification.

In the bodyshop they carry out the manufacture of repair sections, and carry out all structural repairs prior to preparing the body for paint. We use only the best materials, and prior to painting all outer surfaces are painted with a corrosion inhibitive primer.

When the painting process is complete all inner surfaces are coated with an anti-corrosive wax. We recommend that this wax treatment be repeated annually to reduce the risk of damage due to condensation in the enclosed areas

J & G Classic Car Restoration Services have over 30 years experience with classic cars.  To them the restoration of classic and vintage cars is more way of life than a job, and all who work here have a genuine love of classic and vintage cars.

J & G Classic Car Restoration Services work on the basis of quality not quantity, and so generally turn out only eight to twelve restored cars per year.
