| When cars are collected they are in various conditions. Some good, some not so good |
The cars are taken into the workshop, where the condition is assessed and the cars are then stripped of all removeable panels, glass, trim, interior and mechanical components etc.
Where the cars have a separate chassis, or in the case of coach built cars, the body is removed from the chasis and placed on a jig or dollies depending on type. The chassis is then stripped, inspected, and repaired as required prior to being either painted with a zink rich paint or shot blasted and powder coated in line with the customers instructions. |
| The body is then stripped to bare metal. All perforated metal is cut away and new sections made and welded into place, or new panels fitted as neccessary. All dents are removed and the surface prepared for refinishing. All steel panels are painted with one coat of 2 part epoxy corrosion resistant primer then 4 coats 2-pack high build primer followed by 3 coats colour of choice and 3 coats of lacquer if required. The top coat is then flatted and polished to give a classic finish. All aluminium panels are etch primed prior to being refinished and GRP has all stress cracks removed prior to etch priming and refinishing. |
| The finished body is the built up onto the chassis and all the electrics are fitted prior to fitting the interior and engine. |
| All mechanical items are reconditioned or replaced as required and in accordance with customers instructions. Modifications can be carried out if neccessary and engines and brakes can be upgraded at this stage. The mechanical components are then fitted into the body and chassis. |
| Most of the restoration is carried out in house, but some things, such as engine machining, radiator re-manufacture and chroming is put out to experts. Some of the interior trim is also put out to other high quality trimmers to ensure our customers have the best quality service. |
| Finally the inner sections are all coated with a corrosion resistant wax and the interior is re-trimmed and fitted. The car is then ready for a road test, MOT and final inspection before returning home. |
